Episode 233 is here! Julian's change of strategy tips the odds back in his favor, and leaves Pinky a little short of breath. He may have a lucrative career in softball waiting for him!

Does anyone have experience with tablet PCs? I've been thinking about investing in a laptop at some point in the (distant) future for comic-making on the go, and that seems like the most logical solution. Any anecdotal suggestions (either for or against) would be helpful. What I'm most interested in is the durability and accuracy of the drawing surface, though a nice laptop for general computing wouldn't be unwelcome, either.

As you may have guessed, I was lured in by the siren song of the Orange Box. So much awesome in just one little package! I can't believe I waited so long to play Half-Life 2. Much like its little brother, it really shines as one of the most cinematic shooters around... and yet it never really feels like you're being led by the hand. Now, if only Portal wasn't so short...

Oh, and:

"Any contact with the chamber floor will result in an unsatisfactory mark on your official testing record, followed by death. Good luck."

I have what that guy just said, except mines a bit older, right before dual-cores became mainstream and with only 1 gig ram. 2000$ smackeroos.. yeesh.

It's enough, but that's not my main tiff. The real reason I'm pissed is that I hadn't expected it to be so HUGE. But, I'll live with it. I don't use it much anyways. It was mostly used before I got my desktop back from repairs.

The purpose of a laptop is to be portable. It'll always be second-hand to the desktop, but just recently they're getting kinda good if you can slap that preinstalled Vista into submission and pay the little extra for ram. A little extra oomph is never a bad thing if you're going to juggle photoshop/music/games/whatever.

Go for the good brands like Toshiba/Sony/Dell, pay the oopsy warranty (covers accidents) and go for the tablet PC that's a comfortable size to hold (make sure you see it in person!)

This is just my opinion. You'll probably get a lot of geeks telling you to go for the biggest monster you can get, but this is YOUR computer. Choose wisely.

I recently lost my laptop to hardware issues, and so was forced to upgrade to the Toshiba behemoth I've got now. 1280x800 screen, 1.8GHz dual core processor, 256mb dedicated ATi Radeon HD 2600 graphics card, 2gb RAM, 120gb hard drive, dvd burner, and more numbers (plus all the luxury extras like webcam and fingerprint scanner). Picked it up for a snip, too ($1788AUD).
It's nice to be able to run HL2: Ep 1 with everything on high and NOT have a framerate of 3.

However, Apple's siren song is becoming painfully tempting as time goes on.

HALF LIFE 2 is the best only humbled by the original.

I want this: http://hoovaloo.com/2007/10/20/its-official-street-fighters-back/

As far as Laptops go... I have the Acer Aspire 5610, which was last year's model... Got it on super sale... It runs Windows Vista, and is more than compatible with my tablet. I don't think Photoshop CS ever worked so well for me before. I say that it's a spectacular idea, Dan. However, Vista doesn't install older programs for shit, and Windows Media Player has a tendency to shit out all the time. THE CHOICE IS YOURS!

Personally, I never thought Half Life 2 lived up to its hype :P Somehow, I thought it would be better than it was. The puzzles were too straight forward, the vehicles were over-powered, and Gordon Freeman has a complete lack of hands (!) Another thing to watch out for, is the fact that HL2 comes packaged with Steam, which from my recollection, is the computer equivalent of Herpes. :P At any rate, playing the game was not an enjoyable experience for me, however, my opinion on the subject was also not asked for! =p

Tee hee hee! Portal! I always feel sorry for the laser eggs. But the cake is a lie.

Ohhh, another Portal player. :)

Haha, like no one saw THAT coming. Except Julian, maybe, with that lovely face in the first panel. 'Huh, it worked?'
